Rainbow Springs

“Hey, look! There are the gondolas!” Christine alerted me as we drove past the super fun but super scary gondolas. We were on our way to Rainbow Springs where we would go on the Big Splash. As we drove into the crowded car park of Rainbow Springs my body started shaking of excited. We walked slowly through the entrance and then to the trout pond where we stood around and had our photo taken. My friends and I had a quick look at the trout and scanned the birds hurriedly (all because we wanted to get to the Big Splash.)My heart was pounding as we got closer and closer to the Big Splash. Finally the time came when we were standing in the line waiting for our turn, for the boat to pick us up (by now I was shaking all over.)When the boat the boat arrived we filed into the seats, with Christine and I sitting in the back, knowing we’d get soaking wet. The boat started and made its way through the projected portal. The boat went up an elevator and down to a forest. We pasted a scary dinosaur that made us scream until our heads almost fell off; I told my friends “I don’t think we’ll have any screams left for the big drop”. We went through a maori village where we nearly got caught by a hawk. Then we went past a tree that almost fell on us. After going up another elevator we came to the signs that said: hold on and smile, warning us of the big drop. I felt my heart miss a beat. As we went down the big drop I heard Jessica praying under her breath while the rest of us were screaming and holding on. Seconds later we were soaking but smiling. I felt amazed at the thought that I had done it; I had survived the big drop. I was scared to go again but also excited. After that we went on eight more times. I was so glad I went on and had that marvellous experience.

The Amazing Agrodome & luge By Samuel Parry

On a cold Tuesday morning in Rotorua, the year 7 & 8s of Maungatapere School all were lining up to get on Milford (the bus we had for the week). Milford was a luxury double decker bus that had TVs and really comfortable seats. That morning Milford gave us a ride to the Agrodome, and we sat down then the show started. At first the man brought out the sheep and asked for a volunteer to stop the sheep from getting out, but the sheep just jumped out of the pen! The volunteer was Sarah and she was fired!! Next when all the sheep were out, they brought out the cow, and asked for volunteers to go up. Dom and Brooke were chosen to milk the cow. After the show we had morning tea and lunch. We then went into the gift shop and that was where I first laid eyes on Nibbles the lamb. Nibbles was a little stuffed lamb that had snow white wool and a chubby body, he was always smiling. As soon as I saw him I knew I had to get him (he cost $10.80). After the gift shop we boarded Milford and started to drive to the Luge, about 200ms down the road we stopped because, OH NO, Milford had blown an air valve. So we crawled slowly to the Luge encouraging Milford all the way. When we finally got to the Luge, we had to wait a while as Mr O was still getting our tickets. I was first I line to get on the Gondola. About half way up the slope we stopped for a minute and then we started again. We all had to wait a long to get on a cart, so when I did get on it made it even more fun. On the scenic track it was quite slow but really cool because there were dinosaurs hidden all down the track. Next I did the advanced track and I got air going down the big drop. After that I did the intermediate which was my favourite because it was fast, long and really fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! We then all went back to camp (Milford was still not running) to eat a yummy roast beef dinner and we all slept really well that Tuesday night.

Fantastic Luge, Camp Rotorua

As soon as Mr O hooped into the gondola, the ride up to the luge started.  When we got to the top we were given our tickets.  We had two rides on the luge.  We all had to go on the scenic track. After that we were allowed on the other tracks.  We went down the tracks in groups of five: four kids and one adult.  I was the last to go down in our group but I passed Jatarla and Hope and caught up to Leo.

When we went back to the top of the luge, me and Leo sat on the chair lift together.  We sprinted to the line for our second ride.  Leo and I went on the advanced track.  This time I had the gopro.  I was kind of being silly because I wiggled the steering back and forth.  There were lots of SLOW DOWN signs.  I took little notice of most of them.  It did not do much when you slow down.

When I got around the last corner, there was Mr O taking photos.  When I finally got to the top I had no more rides left.  The others had finished their rides as well so I was not alone.

After everyone was finished, it was time to go back to camp.  We had had an awesome day!

        Camp

It was Tuesday, the day started out rough.  I woke up at seven o’clock, it was a nightmare went to the toilet and bought my contact lenses so I can see.  I had to put the left one in twice because it fell out the first time.  Five minutes later we had breakfast and it was delightful because there was so much variety.  My favourite was the cornflakes.  After breakfast we got on the bus and we were off to the luge.  [Scary] when we arrived we formed a perfectly straight line to get in the gondolas.  I didn’t look down because I thought I was going to die because I saw the door wasn’t closing. Also that it wasn’t attached to the cord properly that’s why I closed my eyes was shaking in terror. Up the top of the hill there was a jellybean shop, cafĂ©, 4d spaceship and a sky swing.  We all met at the top of the hill to get our tickets of Mr O.  We had two goes each, unless we bought more.  The first time we had to go on the beginner’s course.  It was hard to control at first but I got the hang of it in the end at the of the course I came back up in a chair lift then I went for my next turn.  It was a blast from the past! Samuel was taking forever because he bought four more tickets! Finally we left that place that was out of this world.  Then we went back down in the gondola and went back to our camp site.  For dinner we had roast chicken with roast potatoes…yummy! After tea I brushed my teeth, took my contact lenses out and went to bed and tried to sleep over Carl’s talking.  This is a day I will never forget.

The Girl who never spoke- Gabrielle

The girl who never spoke.

Chapter 1: the silence is coming.

she stood so swiftly but so silently, her dress flowed in the wind. Her hair was wet as if she had just fallen into a pond. Her pale skin glowed in the distance. Life was held in her hand nearly falling and nearly breaking. She was known for her trouble and for her silence. She was….. The girl who never spoke.

She stared at me I felt confused there is so many other things around me but me? Why me the light from the stars gave me a great view of her. The hair on my arms stood up I felt dizzy as if she was speaking to me in my head, she smiled then walked away through the lamp lights. Her crystal blue eyes faded and so did her appearance; she was like a piece of my imagination but 3D “wait!” I shouted my arm trying to reach her. Then she turned around she saw my desperate look then I heard a whisper I sounded like she said forgive me but that’s imposable she’s the girl who never spoke she couldn’t of said that it’s not true or did she really speak did she want to say her first word to me she just smiled like she did something wrong but she wanted me to take the blame I was confused nothing like this has ever happened to me  I walked away slowly  trying to dodge the stone and any objects on the floor  she still looked at me but this time in desperation, at that point I got scared my heart started to beat like a bunch of zebra’s running from that one lion, she started to walk closer to me every step I nearly fell to my knees. I turned my back to her and ran.

She screamed no one could hear it; it was only me I didn’t get it the minute the scream hit me I fell down choking on my own life.  I heard her giggling in frustration, while I was trying to catch my own life back. She vanished; I got up running looking ahead I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out.

The next morning I was cautious with where I went. Trying to forget about last night I never spoke to anyone my skin was pale like a lump of snow my head help down trying not to let anyone notice me. The day passed quiet quickly, I sat on a cold damp wooden park bench with my legs faced together any my hands holding a piece of paper (a wet piece of paper) I looked up noticing all of the fog. Then it came to me if you could see closely u ca just find a human figure among the deep cold foggy park the darkness came with the street lights trying to show their light among this park but the fog held it back. The figure came closer and me staring at it hard trying to see who was at this time.
My mouth dropped I automatically had a cold dark shiver down my spine. It was the girl from last night the one that tried to take my life and use it against me. All I heard was her voice saying “silence will fall against your life and I will have my eternal life”  then a deep cold sickening laugh stuck the park all I was think was ‘is this the end

the forest. By Ian

The forest

Today we are going camping; we are going to McCabe’s Park. We haven’t been there before, so no one knows what it looks like. We had just packed the car; Sam and I had just packed the last box. We are staying there for 2 weeks. Everyone jumped into the car, mum was asleep in the front seat (she has been asleep for 1 and a half hours). We arrived at the driveway.

The park

We have arrived at McCabe’s Park, there was a playground but it had been broken and not fixed.

There were a lot of people there. “This looks boring, let’s go into that forest” said Sam walking away from me.

I followed Sam into the forest. My backpack was getting really heavy on my back. It looked like we weren’t the only ones here; there were scratch marks all along the trees. We climbed a tree and sat down; I dumped my bag on the branch. We could see our van from here, “hey, what’s that?” said Sam shaking away to himself. We could see a gravel path leading further into the forest. “No! We are staying right here!” Sam climbed down and collected some wood; he had a lighter in his bag. We climbed down and made a tent out of wood and vines. Sam went and collected some more wood. I lit a fire; we heard something in the bush it was getting closer and closer. I picked up my bag and sprinted to the tree.  I climbed to the branch, sssss!  I saw a black figure climb out of the bush, I couldn’t figure out what it was. I moved across the branch a little trying to see what it was. I turned around I could see my knife falling from my bag. I gulped, I looked down my knife was still falling then suddenly it stabbed it the through monsters head. I could see the monster running around, and then suddenly it ran into a tree, then it got back up, it did not have a head, but instead it had 4 heads.

I yelled “Sam!!!” but I did not get a response. The monster spat out something   shiny it started to move, it sort of looked like a baby monster. It grew like an adult monster in least then 4 minutes. The monster stood up and grabbed the branch that I was sitting on; I quickly jumped across the branch and hid behind a bush. The monster snapped the branch, I fell to the ground. I got up I saw the monster racing to me, I tried to get up but my hip get me down. Now the monster was running at me, I pushed myself off the ground I tried to run but I fell to the ground one more time. The monster was only 3 metres away from me, it jumped at me I rolled to the side, and the monster got stuck into the ground. I slithered myself behind a bush. I saw the monster struggling to get out of the ground. I started to slither away but my leg was so sore, I could not move it anymore. The monster pulled itself out of the ground; I hid back behind the bush. The monster looked around in confusion, I kept behind the bush, no matter what I was not going anywhere.

I looked at the monsters mother, “Sam!!!!”I yelled as Sam had been eaten to bits. The monster ran away, with Sam in their mouths. “Sam!” I saw dad up through the trees, I did not come out to say hello or anything, dad saw Sam’s dead arm lying, he picked it up and studied it very carefully. He probably thought it was just an animal’s leg, he put it in his both hands and threw it further into the forest. I could see dad look confused. He saw my bag in the tree; we went to the tree he thought I was still in the tree, so he started to climb the tree. “Dad I’m down here!” he chucked my bag down to me, I caught it. I slipped my bag on my back, dad slipped down the tree. He asked me ‘where Sam was?’ I didn’t answer; we carried on walking towards our car. “Let’s go down here!” we started to go down the gravel path. I felt so bad going down a path that leads further into the forest.  There were scratch marks all along they trees. We could here were wolfs howling, it was getting dark; we were heading further into the dark forest.

Dad began to get tired, I kept thinking to myself that we were heading in the right direction, but we weren’t, we were heading towards Zombie Park. We could see a light, a bright light; it was getting closer, and closer, and closer.

“BOO!!” it was mum, scaring the **** out of me. I jumped back out fell on my butt. Mum must have walked all the way from the car. We walked all the way to the end of the gravel path. The path came to an end; on the other side it was pitch black. Mum took the torch, before she stepped over the line she asked “are you coming!” “NOPE!!” “Don’t be chickens!” mum stepped over the line, she suddenly screamed and dropped the torch and turned into a horrifying zombie. She tried to step out but she was stuck inside the black hole, all that was left on the bright was her hand. I stepped black and ran away, while dad stood there and pulled on mum’s hand. Mums hand ripped off and fell on the ground; we could hear mum groaning and growling. Dad picked up mum’s hand, suddenly dad turned into a horrifying zombie. I was running even faster now. Dad picked the zombie key and unlocked the dark side. Now all the zombies were free in the whole world (they think). I screamed and ran to the car. I picked up the keys and shoved them in the ignition. I started the car and tried to figure out which pedal is which. I pushed a pedal they car started to reverse, I slammed on a different ;pedal this made me go forward, so I pushed the pedal right to the ground, the car was flying through traffic. I skidded to a stop right outside the police station. I ran in and told the policemen what I’ve seen. At first they did not believe me, but in the end they did. They called all police men to go to McCabe’s Park. There were 78 police cars all together. The police asked if I wanted to go with them, I got in a police car and drove to McCabe’s bay, every one that was on the bay ran away screaming. The police ran into the forest, they could see where the dark side was. He could see the key lying there on the ground. Suddenly a zombie came and bit a cop on the shoulder, the cop began a zombie. The cop zombie then went around and started to bite other cops.

Then all the cops then began zombies, I ran home started to create a robot that can kill all the zombies, that robot will put all the zombies in a bright container then bury the container underground. I created the robot and sent it on the road to McCabe’s bay. The robot was 7 metres tall and it has super speed and super strength. The robot saw all the zombies. It picked up all the zombies and put them in a bright container, but as soon the robot put them in the container, there were so many zombies that they covered the light. The robot shoved the container in the ground. The robot buried the zombie with concrete. The robot turned around and there was a zombie right in front of him. The robot was so scared that he had a heart attack, the robot got back up, and the zombie bit the robot on the right leg. The robot then became a zombie. The robot stretched across the whole world, then the robot bit every on the whole world. Suddenly I was the only person left on the world that was an actual human. Suddenly I was bitten on the shoulder by a big ugly zombie. Now the whole world was covered with zombies. There is no way that the world could be back to normal. Now instead of humans the whole world is zombies. I staggered to my room, went into my ward robe (I struggled to grab the door handle). I reached in and grabbed a Panadol; I slopped it in my mouth and swallowed the tablet. Suddenly all the zombie that was in me had gone, I felt normal. I ran outside and dodged all the zombies. I slid under 4 zombies, finally I reached the supermarket, and there were zombies everywhere. I tried to reach the Panadol line, but there were too many zombies everywhere, I went around the back way of the store, there were heaps of crates full of Panadol’s, I backed a truck up to the crates, I lifted all the crates into the truck, I shut the back and drove away from the supermarket. I parked the truck up to my house. Now all I have to do is to get all the zombies to eat these Panadol’s. I ran up to my mum and made her eat a Panadol. She clichĂ©d and went back to normal. I ran up to my robot zombie, I forgot he was 7 metres tall. I ran up his back, but he flung me off, I fell to the ground. I chucked the tablet in the air; I slammed my eyes shut hoping nothing bad happened to me.

I opened my eyes my robot was normal, I gave the robot all the Panadol’s. I told my robot to stretch over the world, but he couldn’t because there too many zombies all over him. I starred in horror; I kept thinking that my robot will not dye. Suddenly I could see my mum climbing the robot, I tried to yell at my mum but she could not hear me. Suddenly mum got bitten by a zombie, and then she turned into a zombie. I was the only one left to save the world. I climbed the robot, a zombie had grabbed my leg, and I kicked it off and carried on climbing. I reached my robots head and kicked off all the zombies, my robot slowly revived itself. The robot stood up, and tried to stretch. The robot stretched over the world and fed all the zombies the Panadol’s. Suddenly all the zombies turned back to humans.
